SHADOW is an absolute superstar, turning heads wherever he goes. He is well known by other competitors, judges, marshalls, commentators, with his massive heart setting him apart from everybody else. This horse was born to try his hardest and please his rider. Shad is rising 13 and 14.1 1/2hh.
He has done pretty much everything with me, and has won or placed at most major events in WA up to 115cm. Don’t let his height fool you – Shad has springs! He is a relatively uncomplicated ride, and will save his rider if put in a tricky situation (he ‘sees’ his strides, even if the rider doesn’t!). Shad is a horse who seriously loves jumping, competing and showing off – this is where he is most in his element. He does amazing, speedy jump-offs and turns on a dime – there was never a show where he doesn’t win or place.
In saying that, he has been ridden by a 6 year old, and calmly and quietly shows her the ropes in walk/trot/canter and jumping small jumps…he adapts very well to his rider and will give more/less of himself according. He taught my younger brother to ride, with him taking shad to pony club for two years (unfortunately my brother then grew and needed to move on to a bigger horse).
He is an easy keeper, holds his weight extremely well, is barefoot and not a dominant horse. He is easy to take out, will tie to a float all day, and great on the trails alone or with company.
Over the years, Shad has competed up to A Grade Cross-Country (winner of A Grade tetrathlon), up to 115cm tracks showjumping, attended years and years of pony club, Won the Blackwood River Marathon (endurance section), done novelties (barrel racing/western bending etc), attended countless hunter trials (up to A Grade), and is well established on the flat…there’s not much this pony won’t do!
Shadow has given me his absolute all over the years, and though it breaks my heart to write this ad, I’ve come to the realization that it’s time for him to teach another young rider the ropes. He is up-to-date with everything (worming/farrier/teeth etc). Shad has great confirmation, has never had soundness issues, and does not have any scars. I absolutely adore this pony, and so will be extremely picky as to where he goes – he deserves the best and is quite literally one in a million.
Shadow is located in Bullsbrook, WA and is for sale for $12,000. Price is negotiable but home most definitely is not!
